Submit Your Poster Abstracts and Case Studies
Online submission for poster abstracts and case studies for the SVM Annual Meeting is now available through the SVM Web site. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 7, 2009.
Poster Abstracts
SVM invites investigators to submit abstracts to be considered for poster presentation during the Scientific Sessions in Denver. Abstracts should describe clinical research in vascular medicine or basic research in vascular biology. Submit your poster abstract.
Jay D. Coffman Young Investigators Award
Poster abstract submissions may also be eligible for the Jay D. Coffman Young Investigators Award. In honor of Jay D. Coffman (1928-2006), distinguished internist and researcher of vascular medicine and clinical cardiology, SVM sponsors an annual award in vascular medicine and biology. Six finalists receive financial support to attend the meeting to make an oral presentation and award winners receive a cash prize. Submit your poster abstract.
Cases Over Cocktails
Members are also encouraged to submit challenging case studies for discussion during Cases Over Cocktails at the 2009 Annual Meeting. If your case is selected, you will be asked to make a brief presentation of the case to the audience. An esteemed panel will then lead the audience in a rousing discussion that promises to be a highlight of the Scientific Sessions. Submit your case.
SVM 2009 Travel Grant
The Society for Vascular Medicine is pleased to announce the 2009 Travel Grant Program. SVM offers travel grant awards to promote the interest of younger vascular clinicians and other practitioners, and vascular researchers to attend the annual meeting. This is designed to facilitate participation for those experiencing financial hardship. Funds to support travel have certain restrictions as to how they may be spent by grant recipient.
Travel grant recipients receive the following:
- Up to $1,500 in support of travel, lodging and expenses to attend the annual meeting. The amount of the award will be based on the cost of travel from their location.
- Complimentary registration to Scientific Sessions and Board Review Course and all course materials.
- A meeting with SVM leadership
Review the selection criteria and download the travel grant application.
The application deadline is Feb. 10, 2009.

Call for Volunteers
SVM strives to provide members with valuable reference materials that provide information on current developments in vascular medicine. To meet the needs of the members, SVM must evaluate its publications from time to time through a Publications Task Force.
SVM is looking for members with publishing or editorial experience that are interested in working on this project. The task force will evaluate SVM publications and publishing methods and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees for the future. Volunteers will meet primarily by conference call.
Contact SVM headquarters at info@vascularmed.org with your interest or questions.
