Vascular medicine has existed as a unique specialty for more than 60 years. Despite this long history, health care providers and the public alike remain largely unaware that specialists who diagnose and treat patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases are available. Vascular diseases are the major causes of death and disability in the United States, affecting more than 25 million people.

The Society for Vascular Medicine’s goal is to initiate a campaign to promote Vascular Medicine as a unique specialty.
