Young Investigator Award

In honor of Jay D. Coffman (1928-2006), distinguished internist and researcher of vascular medicine and clinical cardiology, SVM sponsors an annual award in vascular medicine research.

Eligibility & Applications

  • To be considered for the Jay D. Coffman Young Investigator (YI) Award, applicants submitted an abstract and selected "Yes" on this step within the online submission system.
  • Applicants must be a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, research fellow or junior faculty (within three years of completing training).
  • A letter from the applicant's supervisor/training director must attest to the applicant's training level and level of involvement in the work related to the abstract. Letters must be uploaded as a Word or PDF file during the abstract submission process.

Finalists Receive:

  • Complimentary registration for the 2012 SVM Scientific Sessions
  • Travel on economy air booked at least three weeks in advance of the meeting (not to exceed $350)
  • Up to two nights at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, Minneapolis, MN at the group rate
  • Ground transportation

Note: The total reimbursement per finalist will be no more than $1,000.

Awards
The first place winner in each category will receive $750 and second place winner in each category will receive $500. Prizes will be awarded as warranted.
