CME Certificates
Submit your CME Documentation of Participation to SVM headquarters by fax: 847/480-2961 or mail to: SVM, 111 Deer Lake Road, Suite 100, Deerfield, IL 60015 USA.

CME certificates will be mailed to you directly from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. You may anticipate receiving your certificate by the end of July.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCSM) and the SVM. The University of Colorado School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Scientific Sessions
The University of Colorado School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Board Review Course

Nursing Continuing Education Contact Hours
Minnesota: This activity has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements.

Iowa: Iowa Board of Nursing recognizes CME credits through the special approval process.

North Dakota: The North Dakota Board of Nursing has approved this educational activity for a maximum of 29.25 hours. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Society for Vascular Ultrasound CME
SVM will be applying to the Society for Vascular Ultrasound's CME approval program. Over the years, these credits have provided technologists within all ultrasound specialties a practical way of maintaining their registry through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). More recently as requirements for Vascular Laboratory Accreditation have increased the demand for continuing education relevant to Vascular Technology, physicians, technologists and sonographers have benefited from SVU-CME approved programs.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the courses and sessions within this program, participants should be able to:

Session 1. The Year in Review

  • describe new developments in pharmacological treatment of vascular disease, imaging, managing venous thromboembolism and endovascular techniques
  • address issues related to stroke and TIA, stroke prevention in A-fib, and hypertension

Session 2. Improving Your Vascular Medicine Skills

  • demonstrate improved skill in using simulation in vascular medicine
  • demonstrate improved skill in reviewing manuscripts

Sessions 3 & 6. Clinical Pathological Conference and Young Investigator Presentations

  • integrate and interpret aspects of interesting cases

Session 4. What’s Happening in Vascular Medicine

  • identify emerging vascular medicine issues and directions

Session 5. Regulatory Symposium

  • understand and implement the methods used to obtain FDA device approval in peripheral vascular disease
  • ascertain issues of vascular lab accreditation and determine the importance of establishing a quality improvement program

Session 7. And Now for Something Completely Different….

  • describe the unusual disease conditions and /or presentations encountered in vascular medicine practice
  • describe the idea that “not everything can solved with ‘evidence-based medicine’

Sessions 8 & 9. Debates

  • evaluate the options for using temporary or permanent filters
  • apply treatment strategies for claudication

Session 10. Keynote: The Shared Responsibility: How Health Professionals and the Media Can Effect Improvements in Societal Health

  • identify the individual and societal responsibility to consider population-based health initiatives
  • describe the direction of vascular medicine in the U.S.
  • describe media impact on public health issues

Board Review Course

  • explain comprehensive background information to prepare for the vascular general and/or the endovascular general examination(s) for certification
  • describe and implement current aspects of evaluation and management of peripheral vascular disorders, including arterial, venous, lymphatic disorders; hypercoagulability; environmental and occupational vascular disorders; and the interaction between vascular and cardiac disorders
  • demonstrate expertise in the endovascular and surgical options for patients with vascular disease

Physicians who practice vascular medicine or have a special interest in vascular disease or research therein. This includes:
